A sleeve is the only packaging component whose whole life ends the moment the customer takes it off. That gives it two jobs most packs never get to combine. Before purchase, it has to do the selling, and for colour lenses that's a real design problem, because the product's entire appeal is a subtle shade the shopper can't see until it's on their eye. The sleeve solves it by making the lens itself the hero: a large, dispersed lens-pattern graphic wraps the front, showing the actual texture and tone of the shade in enlarged detail, with a true-scale lens roundel beneath it so the buyer can genuinely read the difference between Sheer Dream and Sheer Allure at the counter. Each shade gets its own restrained colour world, soft lilac and sage green, keeping the range calm, premium, and easy to tell apart, while the ACUVUE Define masterbrand holds the clinical trust the category demands.
Sheer Allure — the lens pattern enlarged into the hero, so a shopper can read the shade before it's ever on the eye.
Sheer Dream — the same restrained system in its own colour world, keeping the two shades calm, premium, and instantly distinct.
Then it does the second job. Slide the sleeve off and a voucher is waiting underneath — RM50 off the next purchase of two boxes, redeemable through the MyAcuvue app. It's a small piece of theatre with real commercial intent: the reward arrives at the exact moment of highest satisfaction, right as the customer opens what they just bought, and it turns a one-off purchase into a reason to return and a nudge into the brand's own app ecosystem. Nothing is given away on the shelf and the offer isn't a discount that cheapens the sale, it's a surprise that rewards it. As a creative agency in Kuala Lumpur, we designed the sleeve to sell the shade at the shelf and buy the next purchase on the way out.
The reveal — slide the sleeve off and the reward is waiting: RM50 off the next two boxes, redeemable in the MyAcuvue app.
Below-the-line work lives or dies on timing and placement. A flyer handed out at a mall entrance is intercepted before anyone wants anything; an offer built into the product a customer has already chosen arrives when they're committed, curious, and delighted, which is the highest-conversion moment there is. Sleeves, on-pack reveals, inserts, peel-backs, and unboxing mechanics all exploit that: they turn packaging into a media channel, and the act of opening into a small reward. The discipline is making the mechanic earn both halves of its keep, the visible layer still has to do serious selling at the shelf, the hidden layer has to deliver a reward worth the reveal, and the whole thing has to route cleanly into a real next step rather than a dead end. As a creative agency in Kuala Lumpur, we design BTL and shopper mechanics — sleeves, on-pack reveals, gift-with-purchase, inserts, and retail activations — for FMCG, beauty, healthcare, and lifestyle brands across Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
